This week we received a disturbing piece of junk mail from the Republican Party of Florida - paid for by the Republican Party of Florida The entire piece is shamefully negative AND...
It ends with; "BARACK OBAMA. NOT WHO YOU THINK HE IS." The "party" in Florida appears so desperate to reach registered Independents, they've stooped to digging up and eating old and toxic dirt - and that means "Garbage In, Garbage Out..." AND... NOTE - there is NOT ONE WORD or mention of or about Republican candidate John McCain, in this mailing. So, if we wanted to learn anything about McCain's positions against the negative selling points, it wasn't there - leads us to believe John McCain agreed with Obama... Not one word or piece of mail has come to us from the "party" about John McCain himself! Nothing positive - nothing negative.
One would think that if a party wants to educate registered independents about the merits of their candidate, they would at least send something POSITIVE about that person.
Lastly, it's important to note that two of it's four "selling points' against Obama are dated as 03/25/1999 and 04/20/1999. These accusations are almost TEN years old - LONG before he became a Senator. One is dated 02/15/2001, and the other is 12/13/2007. I haven't and won't take my time to check out anything they send me. I'm well past that point... As a result of receiving this 3rd class type mailing, we emailed a letter to The Republican Party of Florida that I'll share here with those who would be interested in reading our thoughts about it:
=================================================
"To Whom it May Concern,
We received a piece of "political" mail from you, the Republican Party of Florida in Tallahassee - titled; "Crime & Punishment... Barack Obama. Not Who You Think He Is."
We respectfully request that you take us off of your mailing list immediately to ensure we will not receive any future political mail you might otherwise, send our way.
Although we are registered "NPA," we've done our homework and absolutely know without reservation or doubt, who we'll be voting for on November 4th. We are resolute in our decisions and firm in our knowledge that we need to vote our conscience, and that no amount of mail from you will change our minds... After the general election we will change our voting registrations to reflect "Democratic."
Previously and for many years, we had great respect for John McCain and we had hopes that one day he would throw his presidential bid back into the ring. Now that he has and we've had the benefit of watching him for over a year, we are sadly disappointed in the man we see and came to the realization that, we don't recognize the man we once held in such high esteem.
In our collective opinion, he does not authentically own the necessary integrity and ethics to lead our great country. We are completely disillusioned with his highly charged negative campaign, his overall temperament and ultimately, his decision to pick Sarah Palin as his running mate.
Frankly, it is actually John McCain we feel we do not know or trust, and because of his behavior and choices, we are left with the belief that for him, winning a campaign at all cost is much more important than his well-worn slogan, "Country First." We, like millions of Americans across "our" country want and need a president who understands that as a result of his very actions and choices, he will either endear our American hearts, or alienate them.
Please, do not use my email address to send any replies to this request... we don't want any political propaganda, rhetoric, statements on or about your "freedom of rights" to email us, and certainly and above all else, no mention or slander of Barack Obama or Joe Biden.
We only ask and respectfully request that you take us off of your mailing lists immediately.
Thank you in advance for your compliance to our request, and understanding.
Sincerely,
Mr. & Mrs. "Retired to Florida"

We have not received a reply and I can only hope that we won't since I was crystal clear that I did not want any response or reply from them to my email address - I would consider it "spam" after asking them to not reply through it.
To date we've received more "junk" mail than this one... some from the RNC, which we read and pitched -
Garbage in, Garbage OUT mainly because there was no mention of their candidate, John McCain.
As independents, we have not received any negative mail about John McCain from the DNC or the Democratic Party of Florida... perhaps it was just an over-sight. Either way, we are grateful.
NOTE: Your comment will be deleted without warning, if it's deemed "nasty."
